Places to Eat (Some Great, Some So So)

Mediterrano

2900 S. State St. in Ann Arbor

I can't believe I love this place but I do. I would never have gone there, but my son knows the chef Donald Bargo and he insisted I try it. It's really great. Six of us went, (three couples) we all ordered different entrys and every single one was super! I can't wait to go back!

On The Border at 8 mile next to the Novi Hilton is now my very favorite Mexican Restaurant!!! Try the sampler. It's Great!

The Gandy Dancer in Ann Arbor !! I love to go there and this weekend was no exception. We sat in the garden room right next to the railroad track and we even got to watch the train come thru. In case you aren't familiar with the Gandy - it's a Chuck Muir restaurant, and that means you get the wonderful hot bread, and their "Martha's Vineyard"salad with their special raspberry vinigrette dressing. The menu is great and everything on it is good but my favorite is Shrimp Danielle. The bar is a cozy place to spend a few hours and the pianist is great. I love it there.

Great new place for lunch!! Northvilles Upper Town Grill! Really delicious Salads, great service, privacy and just a really nice treat.

Finally tried  Max & Erma's in Canton, and I couldn't believe how large it is. Even tho the parking lot looked full there was plenty of room inside. The service was very good, very fast and the Cobb Salad was very good also, Leslie and Galen had Chicken Faitias (spelling?) which they said were great! (She was home to take the Michigan Bar.) Would definately go there again.

This weekend I ate at the Border Cantina, one of my very favorite Mexican Restaurants located on Novi Road in Northville! ( I have to say "one of" because Mexican Food is my Favorite Food, so I have several favorite Mexican Restaurants which you will hear about in days to come.) Anyway, the steak nacho's at Border Cantina's are absolutely out of this world and their Margarita's on the rocks with salt are the best!!

Please drop me an e-mail if you know of any Great Mexican Restaurants!!!

I had dinner last night at Craig Commons' Common Grillin Chelsea! For the month of January they are running a wonderful Pasta special. I had Salmon & Shrimp Alfredo Verde and it was absolutely SUPURB !!! Served with lovely, very hot buns, and a crisp salad with their house "raspberry vinigrette" dressing, it was a GREAT meal!

A really neat place you might want to try is Plymouth's  Lower Town Grill in Old Village. I've tried it several times. The ambiance is cool, (all the pictures on the walls came from outside old pubs in England ) and the food is good. The calamari is really the best I've had in a long time and it's fun to just sit at the bar and have a glass of wine and calamari. (Or a beer and calamari for the guys ! )

if you need an Italian Fix you have to go to Argerio's in Ann Arbor which is my favorite Italian Restaurant of all time! I especially love it in the summer when I can sit outside and feed the birds on the sidewalk, crumbs while I eat. Mama Rosa does the cooking and Sam, Mike, and Carmen welcome you and Amelia, their really beautiful sister may even wait on you if you're lucky.
